U.S. Department of State Counterterrorism Bureau Roundtable

On June 29, our Founder Ali Soufan offered a briefing in a roundtable discussion hosted by the State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau. The topic of the discussion was the state of al-Qaeda two decades after September 11^th and its global network of franchises and affiliates today. Ali presented on a number of facets of al-Qaeda, including the organization’s current fighting force and affiliates, its shifts in tactics and strategy, its relationship with Iran, and the threat it poses for U.S. national security in the future.
