Putin’s Private Army: The Wagner Group’s Global Influence

On June 28, 2023, TSC Senior Research Fellow Colin P. Clarke was hosted by the World Affairs Council of Orange County at Chapman University. At the event, titled ‘Putin’s Private Army: The Wagner Group’s Global Influence,’ he provided insight into the Wagner Group’s involvement, influence, and activities in various countries around the globe. He also discussed Yevgeny Prigozhin’s brief mutiny against President Vladimir Putin and what effects this rebellion may have for Putin’s reputation and legitimacy. The event discussed the findings from TSC’s special report, ‘Wagner Group: The Evolution of a Private Army.’ Copies of Dr. Clarke’s book, After the Caliphate: The Islamic State & the Future Terrorist Diaspora, were provided for the event.
