WATCH HERE

On February 9, 2021, The Soufan Center hosted a virtual event ‘ISIS & Al-Qaeda: What’s the State of Global Terrorism?’ The virtual event focused on the current threat posed by the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda, and the global terrorism landscape. Panelists reflected on the current status and influence of ISIS and Al-Qaeda, and their current organizational status, resources, and influence, particularly against the backdrop of COVID-19 and the increasing focus on racially and ethnically motivated terrorism and other violent anti-government groups. Moderated by Naureen Chowdhury Fink, Executive Director of The Soufan Center (TSC), the panel included Edmund Fitton-Brown, Coordinator for the ISIL, Al-Qaida, and Taliban Monitoring Team at the United Nations; Jasmine El-Gamal, Middle East Policy Advisor; and Colin P. Clarke, Senior Research Fellow for TSC.
