Global Maritime Risks and Threats

From 20-24 February 2023, Senior Research Fellow Susan Sim participated in the Maritime Operational Awareness for Joint Operations Course conducted by the Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (NATO MARSEC COE) in Istanbul, Türkiye. Ms. Sim presented on the topic ‘Global Maritime Risks and Threats,’ noting in her remarks: “Technology is changing the maritime threat landscape. The increasing reliance on automation and digitization in port and shipping operations, while important for growing maritime trade, has created an ever more complex risk environment.”
