Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Expert Meeting: Ensuring the Implementation of Countering the Financing of Terrorism Measures While Safeguarding Civic Space

Executive Director Naureen Chowdhury Fink facilitated a session of a Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) expert meeting relating to the new GCTF Initiative on “Ensuring the Implementation of Countering the Financing of Terrorism Measures While Safeguarding Civic Space.” This effort aims to find a way to ensure that counterterrorism measures and sanctions can be implemented, while ensuring they do not impede legitimate civil society and humanitarian activity. The GCTF discussion brought together government representatives and representatives of the private sector and NGOs to identify some of the key challenges and good practices to implementing the Financial Action Task Force’s revised Special Recommendation 8.
