Messaging, Media and Violent Extremist Organizations

On March 30, 2021, Naureen Chowdhury Fink, Executive Director of The Soufan Center, moderated a panel of the Sanctions Summit, hosted by ACAMS. As part of day two of the conference, Ms. Fink’s panel on “Emerging Terrorist Financing Risks” included: Justyna P. Gudzowska, Global Sanctions Counsel, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley; Joseph Myers, Chief Risk Officer, Western Union; and Jacqueline Shire, Finance Expert, ISIL and Al-Qaeda Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, United Nations. The panel focused on lessons learned and successes in countering terrorist finance over the last two decades and current challenges to identifying and combatting emerging terrorist financing risks.
