McCain Global Leaders: The Opportunities and Challenges of Operating in Today’s Global Context

On September 27, 2022, Ali Soufan, founder of The Soufan Center, joined a virtual event hosted by the McCain Institute in support of the McCain Global Leaders Program. The virtual event addressed global challenges, including the erosion of democracy, threats of extremism, geopolitical conflict and competition, and the threat of climate change. Noting the importance of youth leadership in addressing global challenges, Mr. Soufan concluded: “Your skills, your perspectives, your character could not be more in demand today.” The McCain Global Leaders (MGL) Program supports 25 diverse leaders from around the world who are working to advance democracy, human rights and freedom. Mr. Soufan serves on the MGL Global Advisory Council.
