In an event organized by Canada’s School of Public Service, Emerita Torres – Director of Policy, Research and Programs at The Soufan Center – participated in an event entitled ‘How Washington Works: A Discussion on Populism and Nationalism.’ The event took place from 18-20 February 2020, in Washington D.C. The event was attended by a cohort of assistant deputy ministers from several federal departments and a few observers from across Canada. In her remarks, Ms. Torres shared highlights from The Soufan Center’s research on white supremacy extremism, including key recommendations from the report ‘White Supremacy Extremism: The Transnational Rise of the Violent White Supremacist Movement.’ Other speakers included Farah Pandith, senior fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School, Ryan Greer and Anna Schecter of NBC News.
