Tuesday, May 18, 2021 | 9:00 – 10:30am | Zoom Webinar

The Soufan Center, in partnership with the Permanent Missions of Germany, Norway, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom to the United Nations,  was pleased to host a webinar entitled, “Financing Terrorism: Lessons Learned for Tackling Violent Far-Right Groups” on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9:00 – 10:30am ET. The webinar addressed national and international efforts made to counter the financing of terrorism, and lessons learned for tackling violent far-right groups. Panelists also addressed mechanisms of fundraising and recruitment, as well as emerging challenges for policymakers and practitioners. Although international actors like the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force have established a strong foundation for collective international action, panelists also addressed if or how these tools may be applied to an increasingly diversified terrorist threat.

Panelists included:

  • Jason Blazakis, Senior Research Fellow with The Soufan Center, as moderator
  • Jessica Davis, President and Principal Consultant with Insight Threat Intelligence, and President of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies
  • Tom Keatinge, Director of the Centre for Financial Crime & Security Studies (CFCS) at The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI)
