On November 18, 2025, TSC Executive Director Colin P. Clarke delivered a lecture on ‘The State of the Islamic State’ hosted by the Centre for Military, Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. The talk provided an assessment of the various regional branches of the Islamic State, forecasting what to expect moving forward as counterterrorism is deemphasized and terrorists continue to seek out failed states and ungoverned spaces to operate from, while also continuing to dedicate resources to radicalizing homegrown violent extremists in the West.
