Briefing the United Nations Community on the 2018 Forum on Returning Foreign Fighters

On December 4, 2018, the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) organized a briefing “Perspectives of CTED’s Global Research Network (GRN) and the Forum on Returning FTFs in Advance of the Review of the Madrid Guiding Principles.” The event shared the findings and recommendation from The Soufan Center’s 2018 Global Security Forum. The Soufan Center’s Executive Director, Meredith Stricker, provided an overview of the key findings and recommendations from the forum, alongside other speakers from CTED’s Global Research Network. The event was led by H.E. Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, the State of Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and David Scharia, Chief of Branch for CTED.
