On July 15, 2024, TSC Founder Ali Soufan delivered the keynote lecture at the 16th Annual Terrorism Analyst Training Course organized by the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore. TATC attracts a diverse range of participants from Asia and other regions, including national security analysts, law enforcement and security officials, and community stakeholders. Mr. Soufan’s lecture provided a comprehensive update on the evolving global terrorism threat landscape, emphasizing the key developments fueling contemporary security threats. Among these, the presentation discussed the impacts of ongoing conflicts, as well as the current activities and threat levels posed by major jihadist groups, including al-Qaeda and Islamic State (IS) along with their affiliates. Further, Mr. Soufan’s keynote lecture also explored the rise of right-wing extremism and its implications for global security. The lecture offered policy considerations for how countries may pursue their respective counter-terrorism and counter-extremism strategies.
